This article aims at highlighting the central aspect of the poetry of Elio Fiore: a communication in poetry based on an intertextual flowing of meanings and interpreted as a dedication to all the poets with whom Fiore maintains a continuos dialogue. A dialogue built on Fiore's inner experience, where the horror of history meets the power of spirituality.

Su alcune lettere figurate delle cinquecentine italiane

The essay proposes a study on a series of figurative letters used by italian hand printers in sixteenth century. They were selected according to the subject to which they relate, from mythology to religion, from rural life to hunting, the pastimes of adults and young people, as well as highlighting the ability of the engravers have managed to create an eyewitness of the way of thinking and living of that century.

Une dédicace à l'emporte-pièce.
De la Reine Marguerite de Navarre à Guy du Faur de Pibrac

A real success of its time, the treatise Erreurs populaires by the physician Laurent Joubert offers a fertile field for investigation and for the examination of the ethical and polemical issues which a dedication can raise. First published in Bordeaux in 1578, this work with Rabelaisian traits was dedicated to Queen Margaret of Navarre (born Margaret of Valois and daughter of Henry II), a fact which clearly contributed to its scandalized reception. For Joubert not only opened up knowledge which was initially formulated in Latin to the general public, in particular to "the ladies and maidens", but he also discussed sensitive topics like sexuality and virginity. Is it legitimate to dedicate a medical book to a woman, even more so if she is a queen and the subject matter is "popular errors"? This article will consider the processes of publication, distribution, correction and translation (notably into Italian) of the text. The successive metamorphoses of this epistle will be examined; it was submitted to a radical process of rewriting which navigated between the requirements of decorum and the need to seduce new readers: the Queen was replaced by her chancellor Guy du Faur de Pibrac in the corrected edition of 1579, and a new dedication to the Queen was published in the Traité du Ris which appeared in the very same year.

Itinerario di un'ambizione ecclesiastica attraverso alcune dediche di Pietro Aretino

Pietro Aretino (1492-1556) − man of letters, public figure and detractor − can rightly be considered one of the first Italian authors who was able to earn his own living outside of the court. Therefore, it is not surprising that in his activities, beside other various strategies of self-sustanance, the dedication played a role that was anything but marginal. Suffice it to mention that his dedications and the texts which come close to this genre amount to a total of fifty-fife. This article aims to demonstrate that, besides their commercial value, dedications also have a potential as a self-propagandistic tool; it also aims to track the path to the cardinalate that Aretino followed through some of his dedications.
